TASTING NOTES

Nose of apple blossom, applewood smoke and spice. Tastes of baked apple and orange peel with a finish of rye, dried apple and blood orange. Spice and fruit. 91 proof.

From the same starting point as our Oak Rye aged in a once-used 10-year bourbon barrel, we wanted to extend the flavor profile of our rye distillate into a new profile, that would make a soothing and fruity rye compared to traditional ryes. To do so we add fresh cut Applewood Staves alongside the oak.

Widow Jane scours the country for the finest barrels of Straight Bourbon & Rye Whiskeys. Hand assembled right here in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, we bring these to you with non chill-filtration, and proofed with a hard-yet-sweet pure limestone water from the Legendary Rosendale Mines of Upstate New York.

We also distill every week in Red Hook using the finest non-GMO ingredients, including corn varietals such as Baby Jane that are unique to us and that we have nurtured over many years.

INSTRUCTION

For hot drinks:

  • Start with a clean thermos. 
  •  Warm your thermos by filling it with boiling water. Put the lid on. Let it sit for a few minutes then pour out the water.
  • Once your thermos is warm, quickly add boiling hot drinks and put the lid on tightly.

For cold drinks: 

  • Start with a clean thermos. 
  • Chill your thermos in the fridge or freezer. 
  • You can also fill the thermos with ice and water. Put the lid on. Let it sit for a few minutes to cool then pour out the water. 
  • Once the thermos is chilled, quickly add cold drink (at or below 4°C or 40°F) and put the lid on tightly.
