ABOUT
Domaine Romy is a 30ha property located in the premium Beaujolais winegrowing area known as ‘Les Pierres Dorées’, named after the golden colour of the granite stones found in the vineyards. The tradition of winemaking in the family goes back as far as the 1700s.
Traditionally most growers in Beaujolais sell their grapes to the large Burgundy negociants or co-operatives, with only a minority producing wines from their own estates. Domaine Romy is one of those few grower-producers crafting wines grown in their own soils. Nicolas Romy and his father Dominique take a minimal intervention approach to the cultivation of the vines grown in their Terra Vitis certified vineyards (an environmental certification based on principles of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility), and echo this in their winemaking, creating wines that are a true expression of the terroir. They are in the process of converting to organic production, which they are on course to achieve by 2021.
