GALOGNANO - LA FORESTA CHIANTI DOCG 2L 2020
Bright ruby red in color. The nose opens with notes of ripe red fruit, cherry, black cherry and plum jam. Floral hints of iris and violet. In the mouth it is intense, with good persistence and softness, with an elegant tannic texture. Pairs well with meat dishes, typical of Chianti, mixed roasts.
After destemming and soft pressing, the must starts fermentation spontaneously in the presence of the skins. Throughout the course of fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the skins for a period of about 15 days. The separation of the free-run wine from the skins follows. After some cleaning decanting, the wine remains in concrete tanks for 5 months, until bottling. All stages of winemaking take place in concrete tanks.

Galognano is a place rich in history, with a name of Lombard origin. The cellar itself, of the "La Foresta" farm, is one of the oldest structures still standing, dating back to the early Middle Ages. Certainly of significant interest is the discovery of goblets of Gota origin, from the sixth century AD, and preserved by the National Art Gallery of Siena, in Colle di Val d’Elsa, as the "Treasure of Galognano".
The Villa di Galognano, on the other hand, was for a period owned by the “Della Rena” family, Florentine nobles. In fact, the coat of arms on the chapel adjacent to the Villa is attributable to this family, where it also appears in the version combined with the Quaratesi heraldry, due to a marriage between the two families between Orazio della Rena and Margherita Quaratesi. Orazio della Rena (1564-1630) spent his youth and old age there. The Galognano estate was purchased around 1930 by great-grandfather Valente Ciappelli, a cloth merchant, who treasured the company vineyards and dedicated himself to the production and marketing of Chianti wine.
Today Galognano is owned by the sisters Erika and Iris Ciappelli. The winery, handed down from father to son, is run by Erika, who produces wines with great passion and dedication, personally taking care of all stages of the production cycle.
